Benelux’ première cycling trade show Velofollies made its welcome return to Kortrijk the weekend of January 21, and boy was it good to be back!

Playing 'at home’ is an extra special feeling, so we were even more excited than usual to be exhibiting at Vellofollies. Belgian cycling fans have a reputation for being the most passionate in the world, and if this past weekend’s Velofollies show was anything to go by then it’s well deserved.

The Classified booth was busy from opening to close with eager fans testing the Powershift Hub system and hanging out with our team. We were thrilled with the number of questions asked of us; our fans are clearly very knowledgeable and really want to learn more about the Classified products

to Power·shift [Powershifting] {Verb}:

2. Maintain valuable momentum during climbs and transitions, or before an attack

Classified’s unique 2 speed gear hub allows riders to jump through 46% percent of the gear range, or the equivalent of 2 or 3 rear derailleur shifts, within 150 milliseconds. As such, ‘Powershifting’ is quickly becoming the go to term for maintaining momentum on the trails.

Tests undertaken with pro riders showed a far greater use of the powershift hub gear as opposed to the rear derailleur, leading to an overwhelming increase of momentum through transitions.

‍Testing is believing!

Thanks to our partners Ridley and Wahoo we were able to encourage fans to test ride the Classified system, and there was hardly a moment when the test bikes were not being used. Seeing the faces of test riders light up as they used the Powershift technology for the first time was a real pleasure for us.

Classified ambassadors Tom Boonen and Philippe Gilbert were also able to join us on Saturday, spending the afternoon chatting to fans, posing for photos and signing autographs. The guys stayed late into the afternoon to drink a Duvel with our fans and partners. Thanks team.

Not only did we have cycling legends joining us for the weekend, we also had Classified team mechanic Jasper de Bauw building some seriously eye-catching bikes live in our booth. Equipped with Classified Powershift technology, the Cinelli, Jaegher, and Ceepo builds are truly stunning and can be seen again in the gallery below.‍
