Podium Power

This past weekend, the Classified ROSE fueled by Foodmaker gravel team lined up for the 3-day Tierra de Campos stage race, part of the prestigious Gravel Earth Series, set in the rugged terrain around Zamora in Northwestern Spain. The race kicked off with a fast and tactical prologue, where our riders immediately made their presence felt. Piotr Havik powered to a 2nd place finish, with Thomas De Gendt close behind in 3rd, and Arno van den Broeck coming in strong at 6th. The stage was won by none other than Tiago Ferreira, former European and World XCM Champion, a serious contender and a familiar face at the front of gravel racing.

Unfortunately, heavy weather forced organizers to shorten Stage 2 by a significant 100 km. The altered format didn’t play to our riders’ strengths, as the condensed race kept the time gaps tight and left little room to open up the GC. Piotr Havik held 2nd overall, and Arno van den Broeck sat in 4th both targeting a place on the final podium. Stage 3 brought fireworks. A decisive breakaway formed with race leader Tiago Ferreira and our very own Arno Van den Broeck. The duo went all-in and made it stick to the line, with Arno taking the stage win in impressive fashion. His bold move vaulted him from 4th to 2nd overall—an incredible effort against elite competition. Piotr Havik held his ground to secure a strong 3rd place in the general classification, capping off a double podium for the team. Thomas De Gendt unfortunately did not start Stage 3 due to a crash on the previous day. We're wishing him a speedy recovery. On the women’s side, Lucy Hempstead started strong with a 2nd place finish in the prologue, but faced a tougher challenge in Stage 2 and dropped out of podium contention. Still, a promising showing and valuable experience heading into the next block. The team now enters a short training phase before turning focus to the next big target: The Traka.
