Performance in Focus – Classified at Science & Cycling Lille

Last week, just ahead of the Tour de France Grand Départ, Classified took part in the Science & Cycling Conference in Lille — a respected platform where researchers, innovators, and leading professional teams meet to share insights that shape the future of performance cycling.

Cadence and speed simulations comparing 1x, 2x, and Classified drivetrains on the time trial course of the 2025 UCI World Championships in Rwanda. Simulation by Bart Blockmans, Classified.

As part of the event, we presented our Powershift Hub system and its unique contribution to drivetrain performance. Through simulations, data, and in-race examples, we demonstrated how instant shifting under full load, expanded gear coverage, and uncompromised efficiency translate into real-world speed, control, and cadence — especially when every second matters.

Importantly, we also showcased how our recent SHIMANO Di2 integration makes this performance more accessible than ever before. With full wireless control directly from existing Di2 shift levers, the Powershift Hub now fits seamlessly into the setups trusted by the peloton — removing barriers and unlocking new potential for pro and elite riders alike. The response from teams and experts was energising.

Powershift sparked enthusiastic conversations across disciplines, with coaches, mechanics, and performance staff eager to explore what this system could unlock on the road — not just in theory, but in competition.

“We’re proud to share that teams were impressed by the technology and excited about the opportunities it offers to push performance to the next level. The unique combination of instantaneous shifting, increased gear range, and uncompromised efficiency sparked great conversations about how Powershift can make the difference when it matters most.”

As interest grows, so does momentum. We’re seeing more professional programs opening up to new drivetrain technologies — especially those that combine simplicity with cutting-edge capability.

We look forward to continuing these discussions and helping more teams — and riders — unlock their full potential with Classified.
